Abstract

The validity of using the results from consumer product tests to predict the performance of a product in the marketplace is frequently an issue for debate between product developers and marketers. The traditional approaches to measuring consumer acceptance are immediate-use sensory testing in a central-location test (CLT) and extended in a home-use test (HUT). Both methods have some shortcoming.
